I just got Office Xp. In Word, I can't save documents to
my cd-rom. I get a message "Word can't save or create
this file."

You cannot save to your CD rom device..unless you have a
burner
Even then, word does not have the capability to save to
your burner

The "Rom" in CD Rom means Read Only Memory i.e. you can
only read from an ordinary cd rom, you can not copy/save
onto a cd nor can you delete or move stuff off of it. If
you want to put documents onto a cd, you have to acquire a
CD Writer and a writable or rewritable CD. You then save
the document onto you hard drive and the run the cd
writing software you receive with the CD Writer to copy
the data onto the CD. Please note there is a difference
between a normal writable CD(Can copy onto, but can not
delete off of) and a Re-Writable CD (Can copy onto and
delete off of).

Hope this helps
