scanning

I'm trying to scan a multi-paged double-sided document on my HP 6110
using Microsoft Office scanning. It scans the one side of the document
from the feeder and then prompts me to turn the document over. I turn
it over, reload it into the feeder and click continue. It scans the
first page and then stops. I can't figure out why it won't scan past
the first page after I turn the document over. Any ideas?

The following is from the help files
1.. On the File menu, click Scan New Document.
2.. In the Scan New Document dialog box, do one or more of the following:
a.. If your scanner is equipped with an automatic document feeder (ADF),
click Scanner, and then select the Use automatic document feeder check box.
b.. If your scanner is equipped with an ADF and you have double-sided
originals, select the Original is double sided check box to scan both the
front and back of multiple pages. Place the pages in the feeder so that the
page fronts are scanned first.
The Microsoft Office Document Scanning dialog box will appear after each
scan, allowing you to turn the pages over and scan the page backs. Microsoft
Office Document Imaging automatically collates the pages in the correct
order after scanning is complete.

c.. If you want to scan pages manually, select the Prompt for additional
pages check box. Office Document Imaging will pause after each page is
scanned, allowing you to place the next page in your scanner.
If you are using an ADF, click this option to pause when the feeder is
empty, allowing you to load more pages. You can also use this option when
scanning documents that won't fit or are too long to load into the feeder.
The Microsoft Office Document Scanning dialog box appears after each page is
scanned, or after the ADF is empty.

3.. Click Scan.
4.. If you selected the Original is double sided check box or the Prompt
for additional pages check box, click Done after the last page is scanned.

And those are the directions that I followed. It doesn't work...
"It scans the one side of the document from the feeder and then prompts
me to turn the document over. I turn it over, reload it into the feeder
and click continue. It scans the first page and then stops. I can't
figure out why it won't scan past the first page after I turn the
document over."

That would work but I have about 20 documents averaging 20 double sided
pages each. What I'm doing until I figure this out is I scan the "top"
side of a document and print to a PDF file then fli[p the document and
scan the "bottom" and print to a second PDF file. I then merge the two
files by hand. Tedious. If the SW/HW actually worked the way they
should, this would be very quick to complete...

Chris,
Could you do a quick test for me? Load 2 pages in you document feeder.
Click Start->Programs->Microsoft Office Tools->Microsoft Office
Document Scanning When it comes up select "Original is double sided"
and "View original after scanning". Click on scanner and select the
6110 and select "Use automatic document feeder". Click OK. Click the
big scan button. It should scan pages 1 and 2 then prompt you to turn
the document over. Turn the documnet over and click the "scan side 2"
button. Let me know if it scans the whole document. If this works for
you then it's a problem with my system. If it doesn't work for you then
I know it's a bigger issue.
Thanks!

Same results as you posted. Scans only the first page of the reverse side
I did this from an Office XP machine, have not tried it on Office 2003 as of yet
Sorry for the delay, but it's Monday...
When you click scan, do you recieve a message stating
"You have chosen to use a WIA scanner driver. You may experience difficulties using this driver with scanners that have an automatic document feeder. In that case contact your scanner mfg to check if there is an updated WAI or Twain scanner driver for your model
I did not look on the HP site last evening for this when I posted. Will if I get a chance today

I don't get any messages. I'm glad that you have the same problem (at
least I know my gear is OK). All HP said was to uninstall/reinstall. I
did that. No help. Let me know what you find out...

I will turn in a tech support email and include these posts to HP. Maybe something will come of it. We've usually had good luck with HP all-in-ones. Still own an old G55 and print server. Works great, even with Office 2003. Several workarounds later of course.....

2 are better than one
If you could contact HP as well via email tech support, include copies of the posts/OS/Office version/problem..

Please post the issue with HP tech support for your specific model. As you posted "so much for the ADF"
