Scheduling Algorithm in MSP

What is the algorithm used in MSP, Can you guys point me to any reference?

Here are the steps I took: ( use Task Usage view)

1. I started a Task - T1 with Fixed Duration - 1 day - work 8 hours,
constraint type = as soon as possible.
2. Used Task Pane, Assigned a resource R1, at 100%, Task usage view shows,
work 8 hours, contour = flat
3. Used TAsk pane, Assigned another resource r2: Task usaage view shows, r1
at 50%, work 4 hours, r2 at 50%, work 4 hours, Task usage view shows, r1 and
r2 each has 4 hours as remaing work,
4. Used Task Usage, marked R1 for 2 hour, but work contour changed to
"Contour", assignment has changed for R1 to 25%, and R2 to 50%.
5. Used Task pane and assigned another resource R3. Task usage shows the
following: R1 - Remaining work= 0.85, Contour type=Contour, R2-remainaing
work=1.72,contour type = Flat, and R3 -remainingwork = 3.43 hrs, contour type
= contour.
I would like to know what algorithm is used to divide the remaining 6 hours
into .85, 1.72 and 3.43 across all the three?

Don't ever think this is THE algorithm.
It is the algorithm for fixed duration, effort driven.
There are 5 cases and for each you can enter resources together or one at
the time, have actuals...
Couldn't you get hold of a good book explaining all this, it take many
pages..

Can you recommend a book, where I can get the details. Moreover I took a case
of 8 hours and fixed duration. When you have longer duration, the results are
not easily understandble, if work has already has begun, with different
contours. I have seen MS site with training -
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/CR061832711033.aspx. This does not
answer my questions.
