Selecting Part of a Picture

If I have a photograph of say 3 bottles, is there an easy way for me to pick
out 1 bottle without any background to give a bottle shaped picture?

Not so easy but try this...

Select your picture and the Picture Toolbar should
appear...go to...Text Wrapping / Edit Wrap Points...

Now...just drag the edges of the picture in and try
to outline the subject you wish to save.

Have patience...it will take some practice.

If the image is clip-art -- in MS Word -- you can often ungroup the
components and delete the parts you don't want. Depending on how the image
was created - sometimes you can lose part of the image you wanted to keep.
But it is quick and easy to try.

This only works with certain file types (wmf for sure...) and if UNGROUP is
grayed out -- try a different wrapping style -- that sometimes makes a
difference.

Note of interest -- once ungrouped -- you can often recolor individual
components of a picture. For example, I used to use a kid playing soccer in
a blue uniform -- but my son's team wore red. I was able to ungroup and
change the uniform color!

Thank-you John. That works fine, if a little laborious!! I will
have to practice.

You're welcome.

Thanks for the update.

If it's a photo, you are MUCH better off using a dedicated photo-editing
application to remove the background. Paint.NET is free and will do the
job. www.getpaint.net is where to get it.

Thanks Kathryn, yes when this works its great! I shall try changing the
wrapping style next time I have problems. In this case though it is a
photograph that I want to crop.
