selection too large

Harvey Waxman

I started getting an error message: "Selection too large" when I try
to copy a row of formulas to rows below in the same sheet. If I select
6-8 cells in the row and try to copy them I get the same message.

It's strange because I can copy an entire sheet to a new location
without the problem.

It also happens if I select the lower right corner and drag. If I drag
a few hundred rows I'm ok but when I get in the thousands the error pops
up.

Restart Excel (OSX) doesn't help.

What can be prompting this new behavior?

Thanks for any help

Without knowing more about your configuration, and the content of the cells
it's pretty hard to tell. My first thought is that you should move into the
20th century (yes I know it's the 21st) and upgrade.

iMac OS 10.5.6
2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo
2 gig memory.
Excel 10.1.9 Service Release 1 (does everything I need)

The cells have formulas - no data, no calculations.

And I like the 20th century :)

I guess it does everything you need, except work properly. What is the
formula content of the 6 -8 cells that cause this error? If you send me the
workbook privately with instructions about what you are doing to get the
error, I'll take a look.
