SEQ not working in header. Any toughts?

I'm using a pretty simple header, although it does have a lot of elements
that stretch the full length of the page.

I have a series of photographs that I want to number Photo 1, 2, 3, etc.
I've placed two images that look like picture frames in the header and want
the header to automatically do this on each page:

---
| | Picture 1
---

---
| | Picture 2
---

I'm using SEQ [bookmark] \s \1 in the first picture in the header, and then
SEQ [bookmark] in the second and subsequent header picture frames.

I can get it to work outside the header, but can't get it to work inside the
header. I'm placing the SEQ field in a text box (I need to use that because I
want exact placement and a border around it.

Am I doing something wrong or am I just going over the limit of headers in
Word?

The only other field codes is the page number. The rest of the document
doesn't have any user-input field codes.

Thanks in advance.

You can't use SEQ in a header because a header by definition is the same for
every page in a section. If you need a new sequential number on each page,
why not use a PAGE field instead?

Page number doesn't work because I'm numbering every photo and there are two
photos on each page.

Thanks for the info. That explains that. I'm assuming Listnum wouldn't work
either?

No. ListNum won't work. If you have the photo numbers in the body of the
document, perhaps you could use StyleRef? Otherwise, perhaps you could do a
calculated field based on the page number.
