Setting resource thresholds

Is there a way that I can set a threshold for a resource (say 100% or maybe
105%) so that when someone tries to go over the threshold for that resource,
project displays an error message and makes them re-distribute the work hours
to another employee?

Confused,
Well sure, it's already in place. The degault max units for a resource
is 100% (i.e. full time). If that resource is overallocated, Project
will indicate that overallocation by showing that resource in a red font
on the Resource Sheet and the Resource Usage view. If you want to raise
the threshold to 105%, set the max units on the Resource Sheet to 105%.

Hope this helps.

John,

Well I knew about the pre-set limits in Project but the problem is that just
having the values turn red isn't enough to stop my project managers from
over-loading those resources. See the problem is that we have plenty of
engineers to do the work, but the Project managers in their rush simply throw
in engineers when they're making their schedules and the lead engineer then
assigns an engineer to actually do the task. So in essence, we have plenty of
engineers but when we look at the resource summaries it looks as though some
people are working triple overtime while others don't have any work at all.
We're trying to get some consistancy and we think if there was some sort of
"hard" error that wouldn't allow resources to go past say 105%, then things
would smooth out. Thanks for your previous advice and hopefully you'll know
how I can do this.
