setting up auto-run presentations

How do you create an auto-run presentation. In other
words, how can I send a presentation that I have created
to someone else via email and when he/she opens the file
all he/she sees is the powerpoint presentation slide show
running automatically.

Unless the recipient has PowerPoint or the PowerPoint viewer installed on their
system you can't. As they will not be able to open the file. However, if you
know that the recipient has either of the above programs installed, you save you
presentation as a PowerPoint show .pps, which when opened opens in the slideshow
mode. If your not sure that the recipient has either of the programs installed.
you could always provide a link to download and install the viewer.

Save the presentation as "Show (*.PPS) or rename it giving it a .PPS file
extension. The "S" just tells PowerPoint to open it directly in Show mode.
The file format doesn't change and the file can still be opened from within
PowerPoint and edited.
