Access 2002 upgrade. Had installed before. Computer crashed. Need to
reinstall. Not working. States: "Setup failed to locate a valid qualifying
product on your machine. Please select the drive where a qualifying product
can be found." I have Office XP, it's installed on my E: drive instead of C:
so I selected that drive, still came up with an error. Online FAQ state to
change cd's to office cd and then switch back, tried and failed. How am I to
get this installed again?

I believe Office XP is not a qualifying product, as it is 2002. Do you have
Office and/or Access 2000 or 97? If yes, put that CD in the drive and
point the installation there.

i have tried and retried this. I have Office97 installed on my computer and
am trying to install the Access 2002 upgrade. it worked on my OLD computer
but for some reason I am getting the "cant find the qualifying product"
message even if I put the cd in the D drive and point the Product Compliance
Check to that drive....
i dont know what else to do...It isnt picking it up on the C: drive OR the
D: drive.

it SHOULD be working....no?

i have tried those things...where i try to point the Product Compliance Check
box to the drive with the Office97 cd in it. still no dice.
i have the office97 installed and am working with the MSWord and MSAccess on
there....I really want to add the upgrade version cd that I have here but it
will not recognize it no matter if i delete it/reinstall it or point to any
of the cds.
I do not understand why it will not recognize it as a qualifying product.

Gina,
i have WINDOWS XP, Office97 and Access2002upgrade

does that make a difference?
the article you sent me to says to insert the OfficeXP cd and when looking
for the Product Compliance to put in the other CD and point it there....
but i dont have OfficeXP...

confused...it worked so well on the ol WIndows98 computer that died....

Not sure what you are doing... in the steps below, where it says Office XP,
use your Access 2002 cd.

Follow these steps: 1. Run the Setup program for Office XP.
2. Type the product key in the User Information dialog box, and then
click OK.
3. In the Product Compliance Check dialog box, click your CD-ROM drive
in the Drive list.
4. Eject the Office XP CD, and then insert CD1 from Office 2000 or
Office 97. If you are using Office 2000 Small Business Edition, insert CD2.
5. Wait 30 seconds to allow the CD-ROM drive to spin up and recognize
the new CD that you inserted.
6. Click OK in the Product Compliance Check dialog box.
7. When the Office XP End-User License Agreement appears, eject the
previous version CD, and then insert your Office XP CD.

and one more item, if you are tyring to upgrade the student version it won't
work, that is the reason the student version is so inexpensive.

thank you again...i will try the new way you showed me.
i have the Professional Office Suite

MSOffice Professional and Bookshelf
I believe that it is Office 97...hmmm
it has MSoffice Professional 4.3
Ms WOrd 6.0
Excel 5.0
Powerpoint 4.0
Access2.0
Works 3.0
Publisher 2.0
Money 3.0

the Access 2002 upgrade

i will try once again to install it....wish me luck.

M

maryann143

well...i tried it. i even counted out the whole 30 seconds.
still did not recognize the cd as being valid.

i did lots of checking...i THOUGHT i had office 97
what i actually have is Microsoft Office and Bookshelf Professional version
4.3

it still has the legitimate programs on it and they are legitimately
installed on my computer and now I have a new computer with Windows XP and i
want to put the Microsoft Access Upgrade on it.

This is getting confusing and difficult and all i need it for is a volunteer
thing i got myself into that Access would be "perfect" for...since I had a
copy of it sitting on my shelf from when I was going to use it for my online
business that i dropped.

is it possible to upgrade this to 2002?

M

maryann143

yah...i see that now...i really THOUGHT I had the 97 version...
perhaps i DID have the 97 on my old computer that died...
ah..i suppose i will either have to use the office 4.3 version of Excel or
Access to do what i needed to do...hope it works...

thanks all..you are wonderfully helpful and kind. (-:
