How does one set up a new partnership between Microsoft OneNote and a Windows
Mobile SmartPhone in Windows Vista?

The link you provided was for Onenote Mobile and XP. He was asking about
OneNote on Vista.

You're right!

The situation is no too much different under Vista (which I'm using
exclusively).

It's just the "Windows Mobile" component instead of AS.

Apart: Why did you not reply to the OP an tell him how things work?
IMHO no use in just blaming someone to have said something wrong and not
showing what would be the right way!

Did it ever occur to you that maybe just maybe I firgued this out for myself
on the vary day I had posted the solution? I decided to share it with others
to save time and fustration. I see that you reply to almost every post and
the information you provided to the OP was not sufficient.

I am having the same problem. I have 6.1 already on my phone. I would like
to transfer OneNote files to my phone. It says that I am copying the file,
but when I go to open it in the phone, I get an alert. The alert says that
there is no application associated with the file. Run the application first
and then open the file inside the application. When I open OneNote in the
phone, it does not show the file in there for me to open.

Can someone please help me because I have wasted hours and hours on this.

I am doing this again, because I don't think my first message when through.

I have mobile 6.1 and vista. I "copied" a OneNote file to my phone but I
can't open it because I get an alert that says "no application associated
with the file. I do have OneNotes on my phone. so I open the OneNotes, but
then once I am there, I can't open the file because I don't know how to find
it once I am in the application.

Only from my computer, if I click on th file in my phone when connected to
the computer, can I then open it.

Please help!!

Okay, it was already set to sync with onenote, but it never synced my
onenotes. Any suggestions on how I proceed next?

Hi GyMom,
your previous posting came twice. And IMO it would have been better to
start a new thread.
Let me try to sort things.
Okay, it was already set to sync with onenote, but it never synced
my onenotes. Any suggestions on how I proceed next?

Let me ask first in order to get a scenario:

0.) Which OS on your PC?
Which version of ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center?

1.) Did you read " OneNote Mobile 2007 quick start guide "
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/onenote/HA101956221033.aspx

2.) Did you *install* OneNote Mobile on your device?

3.) Does OneNote show up under "Programs" on your mobile device?

4.) If so: Did you open the program on the device and create notes
there?

5.) Does OneNote show as an option for synching in ActiveSync/WMDC?

6.) Are the items to be synched place in the Notebook "OneNote Mobile"
in ON on your PC?

Let's we can get closer

Thank you for responding back. Here are the answers to your questions:

1. I have vista.
2. I have Windows Mobile 6.1 on my computer.
3. I went to the OneNote Mobile 2007 quick start guide and it was not
helpful.
4. yes, OneNote does show up under the "Programs" on my phone.
5. I have created notes in the phone.
6. Yes, OneNote shows up as an option for syncing in WMDC.

7. However, when I try to click on "sync settings" it says there are not
sync settings. So I don't know what that means or how I can change it
because it won't let me. I have "unchecked" it on the list, saved it, gone
back in and "rechecked" OneNote. It starts to sync, but it doesn't sync
OneNote at all.
8. I have a Samsung Blackjack II if that helps any.

Please help. Thank you very much!

When you have the phone synched, from the ActiveSync application
Menu: Tools - Options
Is OneNote listed as one of the options?
Is it ticked?

Yes. It's checked. But it doesn't sync.

Thanks for your replies and the answer to our questions.

Everything seems to be set up properly.
I'm just clueless {siiiigh}.

Just one more question:
Do you have the notebook "OneNote Mobile" in ON on the PC?
Does it have a section with the name of the mobile device? [1]
Did you put any notes in there for being synched?

Rainald
[1] As you probably know: Synching between a PC and a mobile device only
works with this section

David

Is there any synching (Contacts, Calendar)?
Is an error message presented due to synch failure?

I am not understanding this part.

I'm sorry.
I can't see *what* you do not understand :-( :-(

Synching with a mobile device is limited to pages which are placed in ON
on the computer in:
- the notebook "OneNote Mobile",
- in this notebook in the section which has the name of the mobile
device, f.e. "Samsung".

If this is not clear enough, pls ask again.
