Shared and unshared resources

I have several projects that share some resources (mainly personnel) but
not others (mainly project specific materials and equipment).

If I set up a resource pool for these projects, do I have to include ALL the
resources in it (including those that are not shared) or can I just have the
shared resources in the pool (personnel) and keep the non-shared materials
and equipment resources "local" to their respective projects?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Rod.

I guess I'll forgo the resource pool for now, although this is something MS
should consider for a future improvement.

It is already handled by Project Server and I wouldn't expect it to be added
to Resource Pools now, especially as Resource Pools the old DDE technology
which is fraught with corruption problems.

So is MS positioning Project Server as the main tool for multi-project
management? Seems like over-kill if so. Being able to have shared and
unshared resources would be a very useful feature even if you're just a two
man shop managing three projects. I don't quite understand the rationale
behind not adding that to the client products, given that Project Server is
very complex and not something most small shops will want to deal with. Now
if they had something less complicated (and expensive) that would be another
story. Maybe they need to have a "Project Server Standard" and "Project
Server Enterprise" to accommodate the differing needs of big and small
businesses. Just a thought.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Who knows? Still, if nobody complains/suggests at all, how can Microsoft
know?
