I don't believe that the technique that the MS Office Online Template site is readily available to end users (they package the
templates through a control when they're downloaded) although I've not done too much forensic dissection on those to try to
replicate it.
For your own custom templates you're using in Office Button=>New the only method I'm aware of to have that data appear in your
custom categories would be to include the file size of the template in the 'title' line in the XML file for each of the spotlight
entries.

I successfully added custom templates to the new document spotlight. Is there
a way to show documents details (file size, provided by, etc.) in the preview
window like those you see for Office Online Templates?>>
