showing player controls in powerpoint

A

Agix

alright you powerpoint bods.

here's what I hope is a cracker for you.

whilst I know this could be achieved with minimum skill in Flash, we do
not have the resources available to do this.

Due to the nature of the business I work for, we record around about
800 conversations a day. For a training presentation, a colleague of
mine wants to have sound clips that he can use as examples in the
presentation.

Now I supplied him with the program to cut up the long calls which he
has been to doing.

I am aware you can embed sounds and / or link them into your
presentations. this is however not a problem.

As it is a training presentation, he would like the ability to have the
sounds embedded in the presentation, but also have a way of controlling
those sounds whilst in the presentation, without getting in the way of
the content. functions required are play / pause / stop (rewind and
stop?)

does anyone know if this is possbile?

for example:

_________________________________________________________

content

play / stop / pause

_______________________________________________________

This essentially means

1. click, content shows
2. click, sound starts to play
3. ahh, lets pause at this point
4. shit, I need to restart it to emphasise the point
5. ah, I have a stop and then play option
6. click elsewhere to continue slideshow
7. 1-6 not neccasarily in that order

is this beyond the scope of Power Point to do? or has someone or
something really lovely made an addon for PP that will do this?

i am using Office 2003 but my colleague is on Office XP.

any help, suggestions or advice would be very very welcome
