Since recent security update, Outlook 2003 runs slowly & hangs.

Last month my computer received an automatic security update from Microsoft.
Since then, Outlook 2003 (ver. 11.81118.8132) runs very slowly sometimes,
especially when reading new email messages, and it often hangs and is
unresponsive. What can I do? It is taking forever to read email. I am running
Norton Internet Security, and using Office Professional 2003.

Outlook 2003 and previous use Internet Explorer to render HTML. A recent
security update for IE sports a new anti-phishing mechanism that also scans
the sites listed in Restricted Zones. Sadly due to Outlook's IE dependancy
it will check it for Outlook too well composing new emails EVERY TIME you
type a character. I have reported the issue to Microsoft already a while
back. The current workaround is to keep the amount of sites listed in the
Restricted Zone to a minimum.

FYI, I had a problem and using a Dell PC, this solution worked for me today!!
I have a Dell PC and today is the first time that I can actually use my Dell
PC w/ Outlook 2003.

uninstall the software called "OutlookAddin." It is made by Cyberlink
for Dell and it is known to cause a lot more issues then just this. It
causes a lot of performance overhead as well.
