Slow ER diagramming

Sorry, I'm new to Visio 2003. I have an existing Access database, which I am
trying to reverse engineer so I can make changes (to the diagram only) and
then use this new diagram to create a brand new database. However, all works
fine until I try to make changes ( like a new note on a column or change the
size of a column) - Visio immediately puts up the hour glass and hangs while
it seemingly goes out to make the change in the database itself. Is there a
way to stop this? I only want the diagram changed - not the original
database. What am I doing wrong? (I don't remember this happening in older
versions).

(running 1GHZ intel P4 w/512 RAM - Win2K)

Thanks very much for any help.

Can you try removing the printer and do this over? There is a known problem
with Visio with certain printers, and I've seen it interfere with simply
working with the diagram. If this doesn't work, can you send me your
reverse engineered diagram to me at (e-mail address removed) with
"nospam." removed from the address?
