We have a MSAccess database that was written for us. I have it installed on
two matching pcs. Both are pentium 4s and have 512 memory. One takes about a
minute to run all the queries and present the user interface to the user. The
other takes about 5 minutes to do the same. The only differences that I can
think of between the two machines is that the slow pc only has access 2000
installed and the fast one has the entire office suite installed. Could that
make a difference. And the slow one has Mcafee installed and the fast one
doesn't yet. I've tried adjusting the settings in mcafee. It has something
that scans files as they are used. I've told it to skip the directories I am
using, etc. I've even disabled Mcafee using their menu option, but I'm not
sure that it isn't still doing something even though it's disabled. They
don't have an option to close it. In anycase, it still runs extremely slow.
Are their any known issues between McAfee or any other program that we might
be using that could cause this behavior? Thanks.
