smtp and forms

I was given the task to create a form on our intranet that would mail the
results to a specific email address. I created a form and using mailto it
spawned our mail client and sent info just fine. Supervisor doesn't want mail
client spawned so he wants me to have the form use smtp. I know we have a
smtp server in production already but don't know how to make the FP form and
smtp shake hands. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you ,
Debra

Steve,
Here is my problem. I use FP 2003 in my department. I'm the only one who
uses FP, the main webmaster uses Homelite and I would be using his server. Is
there anyway to create a form in FP and then use something beside the FP
extensions to us smtp ?
Thanks,
Debra

There are plenty of ways to do what you ask, it all depends
on the what type of web server is in use and what type of
scripting packages are available on that server. The FPSE
are workable on different server platforms and are the
easiest to set up a page for

If you want to use another way to retrieve the information
from the form and email it, you are going to need to use a
scripting language that will work on your server and
configure it yourself.
