Sorting Office Address Book Merge

J

Jonathan

When I do a merge with a labels template and data from the Office
Address Book (filled in using Entourage), it seems the only way to have
the names sorted are by FIRST name. This is ridiculous, but according
the Help information in Word, you can't use the regular Sort method
when importing from Office Address Book. However, it sorts by LAST
name (like I want it) in Entourage. This is all being done on Office for
OS X.
Any suggestions?

Unfortunately I don't think many people in this group are Mac users
(including me) so may not be able to offer any assistance as the way Mac
Word works in this area seems substantially different from the Windows
version.

Two possibilities come to mind:
a. export from Entourage/OAB to another format and use that as the data
source
b. if it is possible to macro record/playback the process of setting up the
data source, do that and see if any code is generated that records an SQL
SELECT statment. If so, modify the recorded statement with a suitable ORDER
BY clause and execute it.
