sorting rule not working in RPC over HTTP mode

I have a rule that checks incoming mail and move message from one email address into a special folder. When I am running Outlook 2003 in RPC over HTTP mode to connect to our Exchange 2003 server my rule does not work. How do I get the rule to work, or do I have to change the way that I connect to the exchange server?
