Sound files not working

I posted this question several days ago, but I have not received an answer
that helps yet.

I need to insert sound files into my PowerPoint (XP Professional) in mp3 or
Windows media format. The files I have tried work fine in all other media
programs have, but MOST will not play in PowerPoint. A FEW will play,
though, even though all were created via the same process. All WAV files play
fine. Files that work on other people's PowerPoint's, including older
versions, will not work on mine.

I have reinstalled, with no effect.

Please stick with your original thread. Otherwise you'll get the same advice
again because people won't know what you've tried and what you haven't. Several
suggestions were made, but you didn't indicate whether you have tried them.

I replied to you again in the original thread. What you haven't answered is,
what is the path length to the files that won't play? If the path exceeds 128
characters, PowerPoint won't play them. If the files are in My Documents there
is a good chance this is the problem. That is why I suggested that you try
moving everything to C:\Test and recreate the links and then test it. See your
previous thread.
