Specific date range reporting

I apologise if I'm covering old ground here but reading the past posts seems
to be confusing me!

I want to generate a report that lists the tasks that are either due to
start or due to be completed during any specific date period e.g. Quarter 1
2006. Using the date range function seems to list tasks outside this range
too e.g. tasks that start before the specified date (Jan 06) which go back to
2004. Can anyone assist me as I'm sure its possible?

Also, reading previous posts its seems that there is a VB script called
"Export to Excel" which would be incredibly handy to have - can anyone point
me in the direction of this?

Hi,

Would a basic filter on start and finish do what you need?

Under Project/Filtered/More filters/New, set the filter up based on Start
field is less than or equal to the date you want, and set Finish field to be
less than or equal to the date you want. Also include the % complete field
being less than 100 as the first filter, then use "and" for the next criteria
but use 'Or' for the third criteria.
