Spell check works fine then all of a sudden spell check stops automatically check spelling as typing and then when I do a spell check it tells me document is done--when I know I have a misspelled word. Any other with a similar problem.

I really don't think you want to find someone "with a similar problem" as
much as you'd like to find someone with a solution for the problem you
have:) But: Nobody can begin to help if you don't provide specifics:

What version of Office - specifically?

What version of OS X? Type of Mac?

Is this all documents or just specific one(s)? What can you tell us about
the doc(s) - Did you type them, did they come from someone else, is any of
the content pasted from another source?

Has spell check been run on the doc previously (by anyone)? Are you sure the
"misspelled" word hasn't been added to a custom dictionary or "ignored"?

Sounds like you might have set the text concerned to No Proofing ("Do not
check spelling or grammar"). Go into Tools>Language and fix it.

Version of Office for Mac: Office for Mac 2008 (no updates)

Type of OS: Leopard (OS 10.5) and the Mac is a MacBook.

I typed the document and then used spaces to go to another application. I have spell checker set to include all words while I type. The most interesting thing was when I entered for a new paragraph the spell checker started working in the same document only from the point of the new paragraph.

If I opened a new document, the spell checker works as noraml.

Don't use Spaces with Word 2008.

Word 2008 is not yet compatible with Spaces. That may be the cause of your
problem.

We're waiting on a fix.

Cheers

I was having the same problem...I had to highlight the whole document and then I went into tools->language and unchecked "Do not check spelling or grammar". and it fixed it for the whole document.
