Splitting Tasks and dropping onto another task

Simple problem. I have two tasks. I would like to start the top task then
split the task and drop onto the other task during the split using the same
resource. Can't seem to do it with the arrows flowing left to right.

PLEASE HELP I've been faffing with priorities etc for the last half a day!!

Not sure of your exact problem, but see if this will help.
Create one additional task (the top one that you split). Now you have tasks
A, B, C.
Link A-B as FS (normal linking). This is the "top task" which is split.
Now, link task C (your bottom task) to task B with a Start To Start
relationship. Assign resources as usual.
