Start Up - Normal.dot

Is there a way of preventing Word from using Normal.dot when it starts up? Ideally i would like Word to open with no document as my users will then be selecting from a choice of templates.

Hi, Michelle. Adding a /n switch to the desktop shortcut (i.e., <path>\winword.exe /n ) will make Word start without a blank document.

garfield-n-odie has given you the solution you need, but I feel compelled to
add that this is not the same as starting without Normal.dot, which is, in
any case, not what you need. To start without Normal.dot (and without
accessing the Registry or loading add-ins), you can start with the /a
switch. This is, however, as I said, not what you want. For a better
understanding of the nature and function of Normal.dot, see
