Strange Network Connection Error

JJ

I have a suite of MS Project macros which works fine on 99% of the
computers running Microsoft Project 2003. This one computer cannot run
any of the macros because it gets one of two errors... "Error
accessing file. Network connection may have been lost" or
"Catastrophic error..." None of the macros will run and none of them
require a network connection. I even went into Visual Basic and tried
to step through one of the subroutines line by line but I got a
"Catastrophic error..."

When I use the Organizer to copy Modules from a Project file to my
Global file, I don't get an error when I transfer a module, but I do
get an error when I try to copy a Visual Basic form.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this problem? Is there a
problem with Visual Basic?

Thanks!
JJ

Hi,

First make sure that this user has enabled macros in VBA security (Tools,
Macros, Security)
If that's Ok, then close Project, search for your Global.mpt file and rename
it. Restart Project and if all is OK, it was a corrupt Global - Project will
create a new Global.mpt file if needed. If not you can rename your old
Global again.

I'd say with 90%+ certainty that this is corruption in the global.mpt vba
stream.

I checked the Global file. In fact, the company I work for has a
standard Global file which already contains some macros and toolbars.
I tested this Global file on my computer and it checks out. However,
when I went to use the same Global file on this other computer, it
wouldn't work; I still get the same errors as before.

I will try having Project rebuild a Global file and see if this clears
up the problem. If the problem is not with the Global file, what else
could it be?

Thanks!

If it's any help, here are the other errors that were encountered:

1) Microsoft Visual Basic
System Error &H8D0DFFFF (-2147418113). Catastrophic failure.

2) Microsoft Visual Basic
Out of memory

Error #2 occurs after pressing the "OK" button on Error #1.

This occurs when trying to manually copy a form using the Organizer. I
also have a "installation" macro which will automatically copy
modules, forms, views, tables, filters, etc. from the file into the
Global. These errors occur as soon the first line of code attempts to
execute. It doesn't matter what the line of code is.

Thanks!

If it's not with the global file, then it could be the software, so running
a repair couldn't hurt. Also, verify that the behavior is the same for all
users, as profile corruption can sometimes surface as problems like this,
however I haven't seen this particular problem linked to a user profile
issue.

Hi All,

I am having the same problem as JJ. I get this error on my work computer
and I am the only one I know having this issue. I had my computer
re-formated about a month ago to solve this issue as no other solutions
(including those already suggested in this thread) solved the problem. The
re-formatting solved it for about a month, but I'm getting the error messages
again.

Any other suggestions would be helpful, Thanks!
