"stretch to fit frame" button

Publisher 2000 had a button in the toolbar that allowed you to stretch text
in a text box to fit the frame of the text box.
I can't find it in Publisher 2003.
I tried the "best fit" button, but it doesn't stretch the text to fill the
text box.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help.

Do you mean justify? You may not have it visible on your toolbar, click the chevron
to expand the formatting toolbar.

No, it's not the justify button.
I checked in the maual for Pub 2000 & they referred to it as the "stretch to
fit" button. You could type text into a text box, highlight the text & hit
this button & the text would fill the text box.

You can "stretch" text by changing character spacing. Format, character spacing.

The 2000 WordArt stretched to fit, maybe this is what you have in mind.

I'm pretty sure it was the Best Fit option under either "AutoFit Text" or
"Copyfit Text" (or similar).

The Best Fit option under AutoFit Text in Publisher 2003 will not stretch
the text (as this is undesirable as it causes font distortion and looks ugly
as sin); it will only change the font size so that the text will just fit in
the text box.

Maybe the text box options will help.
Select all the text you want to stretch and choose a really large font size
so that the text overflows. Then left click to deselect the text and Right
click in the text box. Choose Format Text and click of the Text Box tab. Then
choose Shrink Text On Overflow to make it fit.

You can also use the Increase and Decrease Font size buttons if your
formatting toolbar is visible. To turn it on click View>Toolbars>Formatting
