Sub Menu within a menu

V

VSAT Ryan

I am looking to see if it is possible to create a sub menu within an already
existing menu. For example, I use about 15 diffent views, and would like to
file my 'analysis' views under menu 'View -> Analysis Views', and my 'entry'
views under menu 'View -> Entry Views'.

Is there anyway to do this? Thanks.

Hi VSAT Ryan,

Yes, you may add additional items, including a submenu to an existing menu.
Use the Macro recorder to record one macro for displaying each of your 15
views. (You will have 15 Macros)
Choose Tools > Customize > Toolbars.
Click the Commands tab in the Customize dialog box and scroll the categories
listing on the left to the bottom. Click New Menu in the categories and
then click and drag the New Menu command from the right side of the
Customize dialog box to the View menu and place it in the menu where you
would like it. With the Customize dialog box still open, select the New
Menu item in the View menu and click the Modify Selection button in the
Customize dialog box. Change the Name of the item to Entry Views. Repeat
the process to add the New Menu item for the Analysis Views.

In the Customize dialog box, scroll the list of categories to All Macros.
Drag each of the macro(s) you recorded for each view back to the View menu
and place the Macro to the right of the "Entry View" new menu you created.
Repeat for the Analysis views.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Dale,

Thanks so much for the link! I had a vague feeling that the 15 macros was
*way* too much work but was unsure of how to get there without them.

Thanks again!

Hi again Dale,

Quick question re: the link. Should # 4 under the "To add the custom Views"
be:
"Right click on the new "Apply View..." menu item and then click Assign
*Macro*...?

Thanks,
Julie
