Summary Bar Finish Slacks

How is the finish slack calculated for the summary bar. I would think it
would (and would like it to) take the least finish slack of all subtasks but
this isn't always how it works. Any tips?

Can you describe the situation you have where it is NOT equal to the
lessor of the sub task Finish Slack values? I cannot think of a time when
this would happen.

I'm looking at one example right now. I have a summary bar which has 10
subtaks. The first 5 subtaks have 0 days finish slack and the last 5
subtasks have 1 day finish slack. The summary bar reads 1 day finish slack.
That doesn't make sense to me. Another example is that I have a level 1
summary bar which has level 2 and 3 summary bars under it. The level 1 does
not ALWAYS read the least finish slack. This is not a consistant problem
throughout my schedule, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Do you have Calculation set to Manual or Automatic? (Tools | Options |
Calculation)

The only thing I can think of would be if calculation was set to manual
and the slack was not being updated or something. Short of that I cant
think of how this would happen without seeing the project. you can email
it to me if you like and I can take a look.
