Sycn Settings

Hello,
We have set up our own base calendar so we have the Standard and our company
calendar. When we sync the resource pool with AD, it will always sets new
employees with the Standard calendar. We would like to have them default to
the company calendar. I have looked everywhere I can think of, but still
cannot find a place to change this setting. Any points in a solid direction
would be great.
Thanks

You'd have to do some custom code. Maybe an event handler, or perhaps a macro.

Sync will load resources, but you always have to go in and populate any
custom fields/configuration like the calendar, etc. Personally, I prefer
that, as typically I have resource data fields that don't map to anything
specifically in AD.

You may want to create a SQL Reporting Services or alike exception report
with nightly run which gets emailed to you every time exception (new employee
or whatever) is detected... Checking out the whole ent resource pool is not
the best idea.

So, there is no way to set which base calendar is default for the AD sync?
This seems very odd. Especially because a base calendar is not a custom
field. I also think it is odd that I can't filter the resource pool to only
show resources with the standard calendar. Does this mean I need to checkout
the entire resource pool and sort them in Pro to see if anyone has been hired
and added to resource pool with incorrect calendars?

Hi Micah,

you haven't mentioned the version you are using. If it is Project Server
2007, it is not necessary to checkout the entire resource pool. Add "Base
Calendar" as column to a Resource Center view. So you can use filter or
auto-filter to find "wrong" calendars.

Another question: Is there a special reason that you created an additional
calendar as company calendar? Do you really need Standard calendar
unchanged? If Standard was modified to be your company calendar, there would
be less additional work for an administrator.

Regards
Barbara
