System cannot find file

I have Outlook 2000 and I recently converted from
WinNT4.0 to WinXP. Now when I double-click on an
attached Excel file I get the message "the system cannot
find the file specified". I have no problem in other
programs, such as explorer when I double-click on a excel
file, it brings up Excel and loads the file. I can save
the attachment and then open it with no problems, but
this is a step I don't want to go through.
Any ideas??
