Table won't let me set column width

T

Top Spin

From time to time, one of my tables will refuse to allow me to set the
widths of one or more columns.

I have one right now that insists on setting 3 colimns at 0.19". I
have set it to 0.2" but it goes right back to 0.19".

Is there some other setting that I need to change?

What I have found when adjusting tables (and especially columns) is that if
I want to change the width by a small increment (Like you are trying to by
changing the width by a hundredth of an inch) I have to do it twice. The
first time by a large enough increment that Word will notice the change,
i.e. a tenth, then back to the exact figure I want. In your case, I would
change it to 0.29", then to 0.20".

May be there is something else going on, but since I do it this way I have
never had any problems.

My experience is that changes larger than 1.05 points will stick, and
changes smaller than that will not stick.

I suspect that this is a badly-thought-out attempt to compensate for
Word's badly-thought-out measurement rounding system.
