Tabs in Pub 2000

I have lost the ability/option to use the tab key in my
document. I can set the tab on the ruler, but when I use
the tab key on the keyboard a space is entered. Another
tab, another space. I used to have tabs, but somehow I
have disappeared them. How do I restore them. The tab
key works in Word, but not Pub.

Can you adjust the tabs in the format menu? Highlight the text you are trying to tab
and open the tab dialogue. You maybe surprised the settings you see or not see.

I opened by current file and no tabs option appear on the
format drop-down. When I opened a new file, I did see
tabs as an option in the new file. Is there a way to
restore the tabs function to the old file. It is a tri-
fold bulletin, 2 pages, a background, and legal size.
Thanks for your help

Only thing I can suggest is to clear the tabs and start again. Once they are cleared,
the new ones should stick. By default the tab stops are .5, if you had moved to .4,
then the tab will have only moved a space.

In the original file (the bulletin) no tab option
appeared on the "format" drop-down. I copied the 3 pages
of my original file into a new Publisher file and it does
show "tabs" on the "format" drop-down.

I'm not sure how I lost the "tabs" option in the original
file. But, I thank you for your help and quick response
to the problem. I don't think I can add the "tabs"
option back into the original file. I tried a "Detect
and Repair" option. Thanks again, Sharon
