Task Custom Fields: track the physical usage insted of the % complete

Hi,
I have to set up a custom field that represents a distance.
So in the tasks I’d like to track the distances daily...
How can I do this?
If I look at the “Task Usage”, I see the work, the actual work.... I’d
like to see also the meters and the actual meters (for every day, in a
calendar view...)
Is it possible????
Let me do an example:
- Task: Cover 100 meters
- Distance: 100
- Duration: 10 days
- Meter per Day: 10
For these information I will use 3 custom fields (number)
How and where can I track the meters covered per day?
I‘d like to view on a screen similar to the “task usage”, the
information on the meter that I have to cover every day and the real
covering daily... on a calendar, like a timesheet, but not with the
time, with the physical distance....
Can someone suggest me something?

Vit,

There is a limitation in project which you will run into. That is that there
are no timephased custom fields to store that sort of data. You can use any
of the custom fields to store the data, but they only hold one value, not a
value for each day (or other time period).

For what you are talking about I'd just use excel. Create a table with dates
along the top and a row for each task. Then enter the meters for each day in
each cell. You can then easily sum or find averages etc.
