Task Risk: Outline Code or Custom Field?

Georg Piewald

Hi,

In the "Project Server 2003 Application Configuration Guide" are some
examples of what kind of Enterprise Outline Codes an organisation could
use. Among the Task Outline Codes is an example "Task Risk". But I can't
really think of a hirachical implementation of this code. Wouldn't it be
better to implement "Task Risk" as an Enterprise Custom Field - just
because that's non-hierarchical? Or didn't I really understand the
difference between Outline Codes and Custom Fields?

Thanks for answers,
Georg

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question,
you could use either a custom enterprise Task field or outline code for this
purpose. If it was up to me, however, I would recommend using a field for
this purpose because you could display stoplight indicators to show the
severity of risk. Just a thought. Hope this helps.

It does, thanks.
