Task Usage Report

Hello,

I have entered all of my actual hours into MS Project 2000. My resources
are divided into two Groups, my company's and the clients. My tasks are
summarized into the stages of the SDLC (design, build, etc). Ideally, I
would like to see a report like the Task Usage view, except I need the total
hours by tasks split between my company hours and the client hours per task
summary level.

I tried using reports, but can't seem to find the right combination. I even
tried building a custom view based on TAsk Usage.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,
Unfortunately you are at least one version to old to do this
conveniently. What you want is very easy to do using the Grouping
feature in Project 2003 (it might also be available in Project 2002, I
don't know because I don't have that version). However, in Project 2000
it's not going to be so easy - you will probably have to export the
timescaled data to Excel. The grouping feature in Project 2000 does not
provide summary line data for groups - Project 2003 does.

In Project 2000 there are 3 ways to export timescaled data. One is to
use the "analyze timescaled data in Excel" utility found on the
"Analysis" toolbar. The second is to do a SQL on Project's database. The
third is to create a custom VBA macro to export the data. The third
option is the most versatile but also the most difficult (if you don't
have any VBA experience).

Hope this helps.
