Tasks end-start relation

Ik cannot find the cause of this problem.
In FS dependencies the tasks end the next day. The day where the successors
start.
eg. task 1 has a duration of 1 day. It starts on monday and ends on tuesday.
Where its successor starts on tuesday and ends on wednesday. I prefer that a
one day task starts and ends on monday, while its successor starts and ends
on tuesday.

Because I have copied tasks from other files I also have some tasks who
behave as I want them.
Another symptom that has something to do with this, is the duration of a
summary task having an offset of 0.06 day (too much or too little).

I have asked around, but no luck yet. Anyone who knows how to tackle this?

Under Tools, Options and the Calendar tab, what hours per day do you have.
Also, under Tolls, Change working time, how many hours in the resource's
calendar for the relevant days? For a 1d task to start and finish on the
same day needs hours in the calendar to be the same as the duration.

So, if you have an 8 hour day but only 7.5 h in the calendar, the remaining
half hour gets done the next working day.

Hi Rod, Mike,

Thanks for your quick respons!

The default working time is from 8.00 - 12.00 and 13.00 - 17.00. So that is
8 hours
The default start/end time is 8.30 to 17.00. That would be 8.5 hours. I have
8 hours per day. Should these start times be exactly the same? I reckon this
would mean all the work can be done within the same day.

I have checked, all the tasks have the standard base calander and all the
resources have the default working times.

Can there be something else?

If you typed a date for this task (not recommended, you should always use
links where at all possible) then the default start time will be 8:15 which
is 15 minutes after the calendar start time. Therefore Project has to
schedule an extra 15 minutes on the next working day to fit 8 hours in.

Set the default start time to 8:00 or better yet use links!

Hi Arno,

As it said in the FAQ, if you make the default (Tools/Options... ) start
time 08:30, when you enter a 1 day task it will start at 0830 and not the
0800 you've set up in your Change Working Time calendar. Thus, the 8-hour
task will start at 08:30 until lunchtime (3.5 hours) begin again at 1300
and stop at 1700 (4 hours), begin again at 0800 and finish at 8:30 the
following morning.
