Tasks not linking properly

I have recently purchased MS Project 2007. When opening a 2003 project in
2007 and adding a task and then linking the task, the start date of the
recently added taks does not change to be driven by the predecesor, it stays
as the start date of the project. Is this a bug in 2007? I have removed all
contraints on the added task, with the exeption of the predecesor and the
start date still doesn't change.

Press F9 to recalculate the project.

setting for automatic or manual calculations.

calculations set to automatic. When the calculation mode is set to
automatic, I was unable to reproduce your situation following the steps you
provided.

Kellis,
In addition to Jim's "after coffee update", make sure the task has not
started. If there is a date in the Actual Start field, a predecessor
will have no effect on the task.
