.tbl files in powerpoint

I do ppt shows for my association's International
Convention every two years. There is a show that must be
updated and shown twice a day during the week-long
convention. This rather complex show uses .TBL files,
which I believe are Adobe Table Maker files (I could be
wrong). I still have powerpoint 97 on my office computer
and ppt 2000 on the laptop rented for the convention. I
am now unable to update the many tables in these shows. I
get an error message: "the server application, source
file or item can't be found or returned an unknown error.
You may need to reinstall the server application." Is
there a way I can download a plugin or anything to prevent
my having to recreate all of these tables with Excel?
(The Convention starts in four days!) I very much
appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you!
