Team Lead enter time for a Team Member

Is there a way for a team lead to update a team members time at the task
level in PS2007 PWA?

The company would like the team lead (a designated person) to be able to
update the % complete by user, by task when needed.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Trisha,

The administrator of your project server can assign this team lead to the
Resource Manager group - or give him/her the View Surrogate Timesheet
permission.
You will find the Surrogate Timesheet button in the My timesheets page of
PWA.
NB : In the pre-SP1 version, there was a bug which allocated the actual work
entered by the team lead... to the team lead and not to the very resource.
I don't know (I didn't test) if this bug is corrected in SP1. Surely some
others know that .

Yes, the PM can handle this on a task by tasks basis by doing the following:

1. Open an enterprise project.
2. Click Tools - Build Team from Enterprise, add the team lead to the
project team, and click OK.
3. Click View - Task Usage and then click View - Table - Work.
4. Right click on the Work column header and select the Insert Column item
from the shortcut menu.
5. In the Column Definition dialog, select the Assignment Owner field from
the Field Name pick list and click the OK button.
6. For each task assignment you want statused by the team lead, click the
pick list in the Assignment Owner column and select the team lead.

Hint: Use Copy and Paste or the Fill Handle to speed up the process of
selecting the team lead.

7. Save the project.
8. Publish the project.

After completing the above steps, the team lead will see his/her resources'
task assignments on the My Tasks page. The Resource Name column will help
him/her to identify who is the assigned resource on each task. He/she can
then status the task assignments on the My Tasks page and submit the updates
to the project manager. Hope this helps.

Thank You Dale!!!!

One question I do have is that once I added the Assignment Owner field to
the project it has this drop down greyed out and I can't change it to the
team owner.

Can you help?

Thanks!

Carefly re-read my last reply. You have to display the Task Usage view and
you have to set the Assignment Owner on the resource assignment. The
resource assignment is the name of the resource, indented and italicized
below the task name. Hope this helps.

I understand what it was saying. What the issue was is that the field was
greyed out so I could not change it. I had to double-click on the task and
then change the assignment owner. Regardless, Thank You for the valuable
information. It is exactly what I needed.

Dale,

Actually, I missed the "at the task level" restriction. Thanks for
correcting ;-)
