Template layout

Does anyone know if there's a way to protect a template?
We've created our letterhead in Word with graphics, the
address etc., and we don't want users to be able to edit
that information. Is there a way to protect it?

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Hi, Sandra,

Assuming the letterhead stuff is in a first-page header rather than in the
body of the template, you can protect the header against casual snooping,
but not against a determined attack. Look at the appropriate one of these
articles:

How can I prevent users from editing the header of a Word 97 document?
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/ProtectWord97Header.htm

How can I prevent users from editing the header of a document in Word 2000
or higher?
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/ProtectWord2000PlusHeader.htm

Really, though, this is more of an education problem than a protection
problem -- tell the users that editing the letterhead is verboten, and
anybody who does it anyway will be smacked across the knuckles with a
ruler...

Thanks Jay,

Since the staff around here can barely figure out how to
type a basic letter, sticking the info in a header is a
perfect idea. :)
