Temporary work area?

B

I am designing an InfoPath form based on a web service. However, I need some
temporary fields for some logic in the form.

I'm somewhat of an InfoPath newbie, so here's the process I've been
following. After configuring the web service, InfoPath provides me with a
nicely typed "Main" data source. The root of the data source is called
"myFields". I've been right-clicking that root and "Add[ing]" groups and
fields. I then build the logic into the form and all's well.

The PROBLEM is that right now the web service is changing fairly frequently.
Each time it does, I walk through the wizard to update it, and my added
fields get wiped out. As I add more fields and functionality, this is
becoming increasingly more tedious. So, I have two question:
1) Is my process correct or is there a better way?
2) Assuming my process is as good as it gets, is there a way to update the
web service without wiping out my temporary fields?

Thanks in advance!
