Text Box Double Text

I am working in PPT and every time I create a new Text box in a particular
presentation the Text is doubled; like shadowing text, but it is automatic
colored making it impossible to read. I have checked all the font settings,
and see no shadowing selected. Thoughts on turning this off?

go to Tools > Customize, and check Shadows setting.
Click on the text and see if the shadow setting is on. If yes, off it.

There are actually two shadow settings in PPT -- one strictly for text
(usually located on the Formatting toolbar), and the other that can be used
for text or objects (located on the Drawing toolbar). Sounds as if your
default textbox has a shadow setting from the Drawing toolbar. It's next to
the 3D settings at the end of the drawing toolbar. Just select the textbox,
click the "shadow style" button on the Drawing toolbar, and click No Shadow.

Then right-click the textbox and choose "set autoshape defaults."
