Text Field Values Not Saved When Messing With Template and Macros In Word

Hello,

I started off creating a new MS Word template. Within that template,
I have added a bunch of text fields in the body of template, a new
commandbar that contains a button ("Connect") and combobox
("Companies"), and a few macros. One of the macro automatically
creates a new menu item for new documents with a button and combobox
under it.

When users create a new document based on that template, one of the
first thing they should do on that new document is to click on the
"Connect" button to open a designated access database that populates
the "Companies" combobox with company data. Once users select one
company, it will read the database again and populate the text fields
with the appropriate data.

I got all that working. The problem is saving this newly created Word
document. When saving the document, the populated data fields are not
kept. Once I save the doc, close and reopen the document, the text
fields are blank. However, changes made to other parts of this
document are saved.

It is mind boggling. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
