Text from color to grayscale

Book publishing specs require that all text must be in B&W or grayscale.
I reformatted all the text to black and 77% gray, but it is apparently
still reading as RGB. When I check the font color details, it shows RGB
but with 0 red, 0 green and 0 blue. How do I convert to to B&W &
grayscale text? (Word 2002 a part of Office XP.)

Leslie, Welcome to The Code Cage!
As for your question, are you sure that your colour selection for black
is from the standard colours?

When printing you can choose to print in black and white or greyscale.

The rgb value for black is no red, no green, and no blue, just as the color
details show you. So as long as the color is black or some percentage of
black you doc should meet the specs.
