text wrapping problems

Hello,

I am using MS Project 2003 Standard and am having difficulty getting certain
text to wrap properly in one of my columns on the gantt chart. I am trying
to show the "resource names" in a column and not all of the names assigned to
this particular task are being wrapped when I increase the height of the row
and reduce the width of the column. Some of the names are being wrapped and
the others go beyond the column width and out of the view.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

mikejw,
Ok, Mike let me turn the light on for ya (and no, I'm not Motel 6).
Project wraps text based on spaces in the text string. Normally the
Resource Name field will not have spaces unless you put one into the
name itself. In other words, "Bob Thompson,Mike Jason" will wrap but
"Bob,Mike" will not. I'm guessing some of your resource names have the
critical space while others do not. And no, you can't manually insert a
space after the comma - Project will automatically delete it.

Hope this helps.

Just wonderful, isn't it? Another great "feature" courtesy of Microsoft.
This is just one more reason (among many) that I only use Microsoft Project
if my clients insist on it.

JohnF,
Well John let's put things in perspective. Project is NOT a word
processing application, neither is it a spreadsheet application. It is a
scheduling application that has some text handling functionality and
some spreadsheet functionality. Try to do scheduling with Word or Excel.
Yes, it can be done but it certainly isn't easy or convenient.

Hi Mike,
I was going crazy with the same problem. But after reading about why it
happens, I found a solution. If you are only using last names like I do,
just put a space in front of them. If you use both first and last names, it
should wrap. Hope that helps.
