I tried the control panel thing, and I couldn't find the mail applett. Is
there any where else I could look for it. And also, can anyone explain to me
why it is asking for a Microsoft Exchange anyway?

If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, you'll have to look in the
32-bit section of the Control Panel.
See http://www.msoutlook.info/question/123

It asks for an Exchange server because you or someone else has tried to
configure Outlook before and selected to configure it with an Exchange
server account.
