I have always used Entourage for my Comcast email. Just today, I emptied my trash, which had about 162 items in it. This message then popped up: The database daemon has encountered an unknown error. The daemon will need to quit, and Entourage may need to force quit.
So, it quit, and I tried to open Entourage. The same message showed up, and Entourage quit again. So now I can't open Entourage at all. What do I do?

I have always used Entourage for my Comcast email. Just today, I emptied my
trash, which had about 162 items in it. This message then popped up: The
database daemon has encountered an unknown error. The daemon will need to
quit, and Entourage may need to force quit.
So, it quit, and I tried to open Entourage. The same message showed up, and
Entourage quit again. So now I can't open Entourage at all. What do I do?

Open System Preferences --> Login Items under Accounts. If you have more
than one Microsoft Database daemon, delete them all. Entourage will create a
new one when it's opened.

Restart your computer.
Hold Shift key down when launching Entourage. Does it open?
If yes, then check your Outbox. It's possible there is a corrupt message
that is causing the problem.

Without knowing what type of account (POP, IMAP, Exchange) it's hard to
suggest further options. It's possible you will need to rebuild your
database.

Make a duplicate in the Finder first as additional backup. A rebuild does
make a duplicate, but sometimes in the process the original and backup get
merged resulting in total disaster. It's rare but it happens.
