The Microsoft Office program group should not prefiix each entry .

Each entry in the Microsft Office program group is prefixed with 'Microsoft
Office', this increases the time required to choose the required program from
the group and is in any case redundant as the user has just chosen 'Microsoft
Office' when they selected the group.

Why does "this increases the time required to choose the required program
" - since all the programs are carrying the same prefix they are still in
alphabetical order so the time to look down the list for the app of choice
is the same ?!

You may also rename your groups and shortcuts if you wish.

No, it's not that simple. When looking for something like this the eye/brain
processes the information as a block, it doesn't do a sequential scan. Having
the prefix in increases the amount of data that needs to be processed by a
factor of three. Talk to your user interface people, they should understand.

That's what I do but I'm getting bored with doing it each time and anyway,
MS Office invited my suggestions!

This is peer group for user assistance. One way to make suggestions to
Microsoft {vice other users} in Office 2003 is to go to Help, Contact Us.
On the resulting web page, click on Make a Suggestion. You will then go to a
web page where you can make a suggestion directly to Microsoft.
