Sriram

Hi,

How to set Timesheet update, to allow resource to edit
both Act hours or remaining hours for a task, so the
resource can specify either Task is completed ahead of
schduel by giving Remaining hours Zero or increacsing to
indicating the task is getting more time than plan ?

Any inputs welcome.

Regards

You will need to get your Project Server administrator to change your
company's settings for tracking progress. Here's what he/she will need to
do:

1. Log into Project Web Access as Administrator
2. Click the Admin menu
3. Click the Customize Microsoft Project Web Access link
4. In the sidepane on the left, click the Tracking Settings link
5. In the "Specify the default method for reporting progress on tasks"
section, select the "Actual work done and work remaining" option
6. Click the Save Changes button

Once this has been done by your Project Server administrator, you will then
need to open each of your projects and republish the assignments for each
project. To do this, click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments,
then click OK. This will change everyone's timesheets to allow them to
enter their hours in the Actual Work and Remaining Work columns on the left
side of the Tasks page. Hope this helps.

I clicked the Send button before I finished my first message to you. In
addition to what I have proposed in my first message, there is also an
additional solution. If your Project Server administrator allows your
project managers to specify their own method for tracking progress on a
project by project basis, you could also do the following:

1. Open each of your published projects
2. Click Tools - Customize - Published Fields
3. Select the "Actual Work Done and Work Remaining" option at the top of
the dialog box
4. Click OK
5. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, then click OK

Hope this additional approach helps you.

Dave,

Can you explain the difference between "Acutal Work done
& Work Remaining" vs "Hours of work done per day per
week" and why we would want to use one over the other?
We are currently set to "Hours of Word done" and I'm
thinking this isn't what we are really looking for.

Thanks,
Ti
