Timesheet view

Hi,

We are in the process of implementing Project Server with Timesheet in
Production.

Below are timesheet settings and requirements:

1. Our Timesheet period is set to Monthly.
2. User will be logging time via PWA / Timesheet. At this stage we are not
using Outlook 2007.
3. Each User have roughly 10 to 15 different tasks including support tasks
(Non billable) assigned to them.

Requirements:

1. By default we need to show non billable timesheet classification in
timesheet without having to go to menu and select "Show/hide Non Billable.."

2. Timesheet Period is set to 1 month. So user requires to scroll side way
to log a time for 2nd / 3rd and 4th week which then hides Task and
classification columns. Can we set the scroll bar just for time so that when
user scroll side way , Task and Classification column remains visible? Or is
there any alternatives.

Thanks

To answer your questions:

1. At least prior to the post SP1 hotfix rollup, it is not possible for the
Project Server administrator to force the Billable and Non-Billable lines to
appear automatically on each user's My Timesheet page. Because of this, you
must make this a very strict mandate for all users. Teach them how to do
this and then hold them accountable for their actions in this regard.
Enlist the support of your project Sponsor, if necessary, to make this a
mandate.

2. There's no way to "freeze" the Task and Classification columns in the My
Timesheet page when the user scrolls to the right in the timesheet grid.
Because of this, I would ask you to rethink using monthly timesheet periods.
Wouldn't it make things easier for your users to enter and submit their time
on a weekly basis? At least this would eliminate the second problem.

Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale

We actually tried weekly timesheet but the problem was every last week of
the month contains one or two days of next month. Since we require to run
monthly timesheet report this didn't really suit us. and also PM required to
close 4 or 5 timesheets period every month when we trialling out weekly.
